As with previous Center City plans, the 2040 Vision Plan is funded and managed by a partnership of the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and Charlotte Center City Partners (CCCP). More specifically, the planning process is managed and governed as follows:
Project Team
The project is managed by a collaborative Project Management Team (PMT) comprised of representatives from CCCP, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Department, Mecklenburg County, and the Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT). The PMT meets regularly to review, advise, and advance the project’s ongoing work.
Consultant Team
Two consulting firms - MIG, a nationally known company based in Berkeley, California, and Charlotte-based Neighboring Concepts – were hired to help develop the Vision Plan. MIG previously worked with the partnership to produce the Center City 2020 Vision Plan and the North Tryon Vision Plan. The firm is also consulting with the City of Charlotte on the Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan. Representatives from CCCP, the City, and County serve on the project teams for both the Charlotte Future 2040 Plan and the Center City 2040 Vision Plan.
City Council & County Commission
Once the recommendations have been vetted by the community, the City Council will consider adoption and the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners will consider endorsement of the draft plan.
